Performance capture in the new age
In a world of uncertainty, particularly around the future direction of VFX, we are building a suite of tools designed to create structured data that you own.
Data sovereignty is the goal. The first step is to capture as much as is practically possible about what happened in front of the camera: the cameras, lenses, motion, lighting, environment, performances, decisions and technical state of the production.
By turning the physical production process into structured, machine-readable data, we create an enduring record of how an image was made. That data can then remain useful—across different software, pipelines, vendors and technologies—regardless of what happens to the tools used to create it.
The value is not just in the image. It is in the data that explains the image.
"Data sovereignty means owning not only the image, but the structured data of how the image was created. It means preserving that data in a form that is independent of the tools and models of today, so that future, ethically trained models can operate on it without requiring us to surrender control of our production history."
1Trigger - starts Switchboard while capturing slate data and monitoring devices for failures.
LiveFX - parses slate and take data to Live while triggering the system to record.
HyperDeck - trigger record Hyperdeck's and parse Slate data for matching clip names.
NodeSync - a device for syncing files to multiple nodes.
Communicate and report your recording stack
1Trigger is a device for Switchboard that monitors and controls the Switchboard stack.
It also provides audible and visual cues for start/stop recording state and take failure.
The plugin is accompanied by a network-attached hardware button that provides the alerts.

1Trigger connected to Switchboard
Display Slate is part of the 1Trigger plugin and creates a visual slate page showing vital information such as Sequence Name, Scene and Take, which can be seen by everyone on the stage.
Other browsers on the network can also tune into Display Slate, which is useful if you have clients with iPads.
Each time 1Trigger is used, important information is stored in a database, which can be reviewed on the Report page.
A session will contain all sequences, scenes, and takes, every connected device that triggered, any false takes and user-added notes, which can be downloaded as a CSV at the end of the day.
